The apple – Nature’s Beautician

Apples aren’t just good for you: They make you look good, too. Long-famed for their healthy, nourishing qualities, the fruit of paradise is much more than just a healthy snack – it’s a healing remedy and a natural beautifier to boot. The array of apple cosmetics on offer encompasses everything from apple lotions to apple creams to apple balm, while in the wellness sector countless treatments use apple essences and apple oil, a popular choice for soothing massages.
Let’s take a trip into the world of the apple.

Apple baths, scrubs and creams

The apple is an outstandingly effective beauty product: Thanks to its unique properties, it has become a go-to ingredient for beauty baths, scrubs and creams.
An apple scented bath is a luxurious treat for sensitive skin, and its active ingredients also tone the tissue and smooth the skin.
An apple cider vinegar scrub is an excellent remedy for impurities of the skin, with benefits which are clear to be seen after just one application: The skin can breathe freely once again, and is visibly well-nourished. Apple cider vinegar exfoliation also helps to regulate excess sebum production, and its natural fruit-acid content stimulates skin renewal.
Apple creams are a wonderful treatment for impure, oily skin. They purify, refresh and energise and are packed with phytonutrients, which enhance the vitality of the body’s stem cells and promote skin regeneration. They smooth out wrinkles, moisturise the skin and enhance skin tone and elasticity.

DIY apple balm and masks

Apples and apple cider vinegar are nothing short of a miracle treatment when it comes to face and hair care. They have the same pH as the skin and, as such, are ideal for beauty applications. To give one example, apple cider vinegar is the perfect toner; the acetic acid has an exfoliant effect, and causes the pores to contract. When apples are used in a face mask, their pectins enhance the skins ability to absorb moisture, thus ensuring lasting results.
And the best thing of all is that you can make this miracle-mask easily and quickly in your own home! All you need is an apple, a tablespoon of oatmeal and a teaspoon of bee honey. Firstly, soak the oatmeal in water until it swells up. In the meantime, finely grate the apple, peel included. Now, mix the oats together with the grated apple and honey. Apply the mask, leave for about 30 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water. The result? A rosy-fresh complexion and flawlessly clear pores!
For silky-soft hair, treat yourself to a homemade apple and apple cider vinegar mask. To make it you will need an apple, two dessertspoons of apple cider vinegar, a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of oatmeal. Mix all the ingredients together, and then massage them into dry, unwashed hair. Leave for 30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

The secret behind it all

It is the high vitamin and flavonoid content of apples that makes them such an invaluable beauty product: They contain vitamins A, C and E, and zinc, creating a blend that is famed for its regenerating, protective properties. Apples are commonly used in anti-ageing treatments because they contain so many nutrients which firm the tissue and promote cell rejuvenation, giving you a radiant glow and a supple complexion. Other active ingredients, particularly pectin, leave even the most sensitive skin feeling as soft as velvet.
