This project aims to make irrigation in fruit farming more precise and resource-efficient by utilizing high-quality sensor technology and digital infrastructure. Thanks to Alperia’s extensive LoRaWan™ network, farmers can receive real-time data on soil moisture and current weather conditions to make optimal irrigation decisions. This precise control enables water savings of 30% or more.
Another example is the "LIDO" project (Laimburg Integrated Digital Orchard), initiated by the Laimburg Research Center. In this apple orchard, the latest technologies are integrated to promote sustainable and resource-efficient farming. This includes automated spraying systems for targeted pesticide application, which minimize the use of chemicals and reduce environmental impact.
These initiatives show how the use of modern technologies and digital solutions is driving sustainable fruit cultivation in South Tyrol. They make a significant contribution to environmental protection, resource conservation, and ensuring high-quality fruit production.
